Ultra Low-Use Offerings Optimize Tier 1 GSM and CDMA Service Delivery for Price-Sensitive Machine Communications Applications
Reston, Va.—May 20, 2009—KORE Telematics, the world's largest digital wireless services provider specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, today announced KORE Ultra Low-Use wireless services that are optimized for exceptionally low or occasional use M2M applications. The family of unique offerings provides GSM or CDMA network usage across all customer M2M devices at a low monthly cost, opening new market opportunities for applications providers. Until now, M2M solution providers had to compromise their service capability to meet critical cost points by using proprietary and lifecycle-limited technology or resorting to inferior coverage and reliability through regional roaming provider offerings.
The KORE Ultra Low-Use program, delivered on the most extensive and reliable carrier services provided by KORE, is ideally suited for high growth, yet cost-sensitive, M2M applications such as simple asset tracking and tagging, auto leasing, residential alarm and security, remote vending management or any "exception-based" remote data collection applications. Examples of exception-based applications include industrial monitoring and reporting, environmental control, automobile service interval management, and safety and security alerts.
"Some of the most valuable M2M applications do not require large amounts of network airtime," said Alex Brisbourne, president and chief operating officer, KORE Telematics. "As a result, many usage plans have monthly minimums that exceed the airtime used, and these costs can blur an application's value. In order to help our partners and customers fully realize this value, we have leveraged our buying power with Tier 1 carriers to deliver extremely cost-sensitive services for these low-use M2M applications, yet with all the benefits of great coverage, reliability and our automated PRISM management tools."
The new KORE program replaces outdated and bandwidth-capped services such as paging and proprietary signaling devices with state-of-the-art SMS and IP-based connections, without the expected rise in cost. It is also designed for seamless upgrades to higher-use wireless services. In addition, it features a tailored "burst" option to allow for occasional periods of heavy use, such as during system updates across a customer's entire network of devices.
Many of these occasional-use applications are critical in managing people and assets. KORE provides its Ultra Low-Use services throughout the North American NAFTA markets of USA, Canada and Mexico with little or no incremental cost on both its GSM and CDMA services. All KORE services feature standard 24X7 support and network management controls through the KORE PRISM™ gateway.
The full family of KORE Ultra Low-Use services is available immediately.
