Seasoned Premises Security Executive Leads Company's Push into Advanced Machine-to-Machine Security Application Market
Herndon, VA and Toronto, ON — March 5, 2008—KORE Telematics (www.koretelematics.com), North America's largest independent provider of digital wireless services for the machine-to-machine (M2M), telematics and telemetry markets, today announced Henry Laik as the company's director of national security market sales. Bringing more than 12 years experience selling intrusion, access and fire alarm systems, Laik will be responsible for leading KORE's premises and personal security sales activities as the company responds to the market's growing demand for wireless M2M applications.
The security market is one of the largest and fastest growing M2M segments. According to ABI Research, the North American market for home security systems will reach nearly 10 million devices by 2010. As digital wireless becomes the preferred M2M network technology, KORE powers the security focused M2M applications that require more bandwidth and higher reliability. For instance, the use of video and still picture transmission enables alarm and security companies to remotely view a location, in realtime, prior to taking action. This allows false alarms to be disregarded without incurring the cost of unnecessary law enforcement callouts.
"Analog wireless network connections are not available for security applications, and today's systems need flexible, on-demand capacity with reliability, with zero room for error," said Alex Brisbourne, president and COO, KORE. "This market is delivering feature-rich multi-functional services that require digital network services. We are counting on Henry's domain expertise to deliver the value message that all-digital wireless connectivity can enhance security and reduce costs for providers and end-users alike."
Prior to joining KORE, Laik was director of market development, Retail Solutions, at Digital Monitoring Products, Inc., where he was responsible for creating channel market demand and recurring sales for Digital Monitoring Products's security solutions. Before Digital Monitoring Products, Laik was western regional sales manager at Wheelock, Inc.
"The security market's reliance on wireless networks is not new, but today there is a distinct focus on bandwidth and reliability," said Laik. "KORE is already at the center of the storm, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with the entire KORE team and its extensive network of application service provider partners to deliver new, innovative security applications that will raise the bar of safety and security for individuals, facilities and equipment."
Prior to Wheelock, Laik held business development and sales management positions at a number of security providers, including RFI Communications & Security Systems, Radionics and SecurityLink from Ameritech. Laik holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Science in forest resources management from the University of Washington (Seattle, Wash.).
