Wherify GPS Locator Phone Planned for Launch on KORE Wireless Canadian Network in 1H 2006
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. (November 15, 2005)—Wherify Wireless, Inc. (WFYW:OTCBB), a leading developer of patented wireless location products and services for family safety and communications, today announced the award-winning Wherifone™ GPS Locator Phone has been approved by KORE Wireless Inc. for use on the KORE Wireless network in Canada. In addition, Wherify has signed a wholesale purchase agreement with KORE Wireless Inc., a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) of wireless voice and data airtime services, to resell airtime on the KORE Wireless Canadian network as part of a Wherify branded service using the Wherifone GPS Locator Phone. The Wherifone is the world's smallest GPS-equipped GSM locator phone and provides a totally unique and affordable way for families with pre-teens, seniors, or those with special medical needs, to stay connected and in contact with each other. Wherify expects to launch services in Canada in the first half of 2006.
"We feel that people are very interested in personal safety and communications, especially in today's demanding world, and Wherify is working hard to bring the benefits of combined voice and location services to Canadian consumers via the Wherifone," said Timothy Neher, CEO and founder of Wherify Wireless. "The Wherifone reflects almost eight years of development and service experience with Enhanced-GPS solutions. It is designed with pre-teens and seniors in mind. It's ideal for families looking for extra security as their children become more mobile and start to explore the world, and for seniors who wish to maintain their independence and lifestyle while staying in touch with their families and their health providers."
About The Wherifone
The compact Wherifone GPS Locator Phone, weighing 69 grams and about the size of a business card, offers an innovative blend of managed calling, 911 and Enhanced-GPS location services. In addition to an "SOS" button for calling 911, the Wherifone features programmable dial buttons for one touch dialing to numbers that would be programmed into the phone by a parent or guardian. Not only does this keep calling costs down and let parents determine who their child can call, but it also makes it easier for pre-teens and seniors to dial key phone numbers. The Enhanced-GPS technology built into the phone lets its location be determined 24 x 7 through a secure Internet website, or by contacting the Wherify Global Location Service Center, offering peace of mind about a person's whereabouts while providing privacy and information security.
Small businesses can also use the Wherifone to manage and communicate with mobile workers, manage the location of small fleets of trucks or delivery vehicles and coordinate dispatch destinations with drivers. The preprogrammed one-touch dialing buttons also help the small business owner manage communications expenses. The absence of a traditional dial pad prevents workers from using the Wherifone for personal calls and incurring unauthorized expenses, while at the same time insuring they can make necessary calls to up to five pre-defined locations.
