ALPHARETTA, GA.—September 27, 2011—KORE Telematics, the world's largest wireless service provider specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, today announced that Vice President Pat Verrington has joined the CDMA Development Group's (CDG) M2M Executive Council. Verrington will use his domain expertise and industry connections to help the CDG continue to evangelize and implement the technical and commercial benefits of wireless technologies for M2M applications and devices.
The CDG's M2M special interest group (SIG) is focused on raising awareness and streamlining adoption of CDMA2000® and other complementary technologies by M2M application providers. The M2M SIG sets requirements and implements activities that enable cellular and short-range wireless technologies to provide reliable, cost-effective cellular connectivity for M2M devices.
"The M2M market has matured significantly in the past decade, evolving from an emerging technology to mainstream applications that businesses rely upon daily to automate tasks and deliver efficiency improvements," said James Person, COO, CDG. "To keep up with the growing demand for M2M applications, it is imperative for the CDG's M2M SIG to enable technology-agnostic wireless solutions that will empower these M2M-enabled businesses."
"Both KORE and Pat have extensive experience in the M2M industry, and we look forward to working with Pat to further the overall mission of the M2M SIG, and to showcase the benefits of the SIG to the entire M2M ecosystem," added Person.
As a member of the CDG M2M Executive Council, Verrington will help guide and advise the organization as it facilitates the streamlining and deployment of a wide variety of M2M applications. Verrington will work with the other members of the CDG M2M executive board to define and implement key requirements for M2M devices and back office solutions, which will help accelerate the use of cellular networks among the M2M community.
"The CDG's advocacy for cellular M2M solutions has been instrumental in mainstream adoption in both consumer and business markets," said Verrington. "I'm looking forward to working with the CDG to identify and implement initiatives that will make an immediate impact on enhancing M2M services worldwide. By promoting the commercial, operational and technical benefits of large-area wireless networks, the CDG will be able to effectively drive the adoption of M2M services."
The CDG Wireless Academy will be hosting a "free" M2M course entitled "Optimizing M2M Services on CDMA2000 Networks" at the CTIA Entertainment & Applications conference in the San Diego Convention Center on October 11, 2011. To register, click www.cdg.org/M2M_course_2011.
